Dr. Gabriel M. Lentner receives Wiley Top Viewed Article Recognition

June 5, 2026

We are pleased to announce that Gabriel Lentner’s article in RECIEL has been recognised by Wiley as the journal’s most viewed publications of 2025.

We are delighted to announce that our colleague Ass.-Prof. Dr. Gabriel M. Lentner has been recognised by Wiley with its Top Viewed Article Award 2025 for his article “Daniel Billy et al v Australia (Torres Strait Islanders Petition): Climate change inaction as a human rights violation”, published in the Review of European, Comparative & International Environmental Law (RECIEL). The award is granted to articles that achieve exceptional readership and impact among works published during the relevant period.

The article analyses the landmark decision of the United Nations Human Rights Committee in Daniel Billy et al v Australia, in which Indigenous inhabitants of the Torres Strait Islands challenged Australia’s response to climate change. It examines the relationship between climate change and human rights, the obligations of states to protect vulnerable communities from climate-related harm, and the particular impact of climate change on Indigenous peoples and their cultural heritage.

We warmly congratulate Gabriel on this well-deserved recognition and extend our congratulations to his co-author, Veronika Cenin.
