Dr. Christian W. Konrad to Join YAAP's 22nd Anniversary Celebration in Vienna

October 2, 2026

As one of the founding members of the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP), Dr. Konrad will participate in a special anniversary event celebrating 22 years of YAAP and two decades of Austrian arbitration law reform.

The event taking place on 19 November 2026 at the Ballhaus in Vienna, Austria marks two significant milestones: the 22nd anniversary of the Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP), established in 2004, and the 20th anniversary of Austria's arbitration law reform, which introduced the UNCITRAL Model Law framework into Austrian arbitration law.

Bringing together founding members, established practitioners and the next generation of arbitration professionals, the evening will offer an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of Austria's arbitration landscape, the development of Vienna as an international arbitration centre and the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The programme will feature a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Paul Oberhammer of the University of Vienna, who will examine the objectives and achievements of Austria's arbitration law reform, its practical impact over the past two decades and the future of Vienna as an arbitral seat.

Dr. Konrad, who was among the founding members of YAAP in 2004, will join Alice Fremuth-Wolf, Werner Jahnel, Florian Haugeneder and Stefan Riegler for a Founders' Conversation. The discussion will revisit the origins of YAAP, its development over the past 22 years and the experiences that have shaped the professional journeys of its founders.

Particular attention will be devoted to the next generation of arbitration practitioners, including practical insights into establishing a career in international arbitration, developing professional networks and building a successful practice.

The evening will conclude with an informal get-together, providing an opportunity for participants to reconnect, exchange perspectives and celebrate more than two decades of YAAP's contribution to the Austrian arbitration community.
