Awarding Costs in Arbitration: What works and what can be done better

March 15, 2019

Peter Rižnik co-authored the contribution on “Awarding Costs in Arbitration: What works and what can be done” in the 2019 edition of the Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration.

The 2018 Vienna Arbitration Days focused on “Venturing into new fields and new ways of arbitration including revisiting traditional ways of arbitration”. Our senior associate Peter Rižnik acted as a co-moderator during the World Cafe debates. Together with Professor Davor Babić (University of Zagreb) and the debaters they revisited the traditional ways of awarding costs in arbitration. One of the proposals was that issues of costs should be addressed at the very outset of proceedings and not at the end.

Read the findings and recommendations of the discussion in the 2019 edition of the Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration in the contribution entitled “Awarding Costs in Arbitration: What works and what can be done better”.
