On 19 May 2016, Konrad & Partners hosted in Vienna the successful completion of its second annual “Arbitrators’ Quest  for the CEE and SEE Regions”.

The top ten applicants from the CEE and SEE Regions competed to impress the mock arbitral tribunal, which consisted of international arbitration practitioners from Konrad & Partners. All competitors were brilliantly prepared, and argued the case for both the claimant and respondent. It was a very close race and not easy to select the best of the best.

The winner, Ms. Katarzyna Lubianiec from Poland, was awarded a two-month internship at the firm and a partial scholarship at the Danube University for the post-graduate programme “International Dispute Resolution”.

The competition was followed by a panel discussion on the engaging topic of: “Public arbitration – a solvable contradiction?” Mr. Michael Köttritsch from “die Presse” moderated the discussion, and was joined by host Dr. Christian W. Konrad of Konrad & Partners and esteemed guests from the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Brunswick Group Austria and the European Commission´s Representative in Austria. The discussion gave an insight into current media reporting on public arbitration and the public demand for further transparency in such proceedings.

We congratulate this year’s winner, Ms. Katarzyna Lubianiec, and are very much looking forward to next year´s Arbitrators´ Quest!
